Artist's Bio:

Shinichi Maruyama was born in Nagano in 1968 where he took photographs of his native Japan throughout his childhood. After graduating from college, he joined Hakuhodo Photo Creative, an advertising company, where he polished his craft. He published two books in 2001, The Spiti Valley and Spiti , both documenting life in Tibet. With the acquisition of new technological developments, Maruyama moved to New York in 2003 to dedicate his career to capturing the fluid moment of water in ink by using strobe light technology. Personally, I am excited about his work because it leads me to the idea of creating digital images of my own of capturing colored water mixing with oil and turning them into oil painings...his work is fluid, alive and inspiring.

Spirit in the Sky: Shinichi Maruyama

NEW Approach to ART: Shinichi Maruyama is using a new art technique to create beautiful fine art photographs of abstract images of ink and water mixing together. Maruyama photographs the millisecond that ink and water collide by using stobe light technology, a new innovation in photograph technology. He is interested in capturing the space and time when the two different media merge into one. It is a scientific experiment that combines aspects to not only art, but to science and technology as well.
